What is this?
A great trip and quickly becoming a day trip favorite!
Carrizo Plain National Monument is one of the best kept secrets in California. A little over two hours from Santa Clarita, the Carrizo Plain offers a rare chance to be alone with nature. Some visitors say you can "hear the silence." The plain is home to diverse communities of wildlife and plant species including several listed as threatened or endangered and is an area culturally important to Native Americans.
Please register early so we can plan on carpools. By the 4th of April, Dusty or Cathy G will let anyone registered know where to meet on Saturday morning. Be sure to dress in layers (cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon). Bring water, and snacks.
Carrizo is best accessed via Soda Lake Road, which intersects with CA-58 on the north end of the monument and CA-166 on the south.
